FREEDOM TO RAISE YOUR KIDS

Kristin Mink, Bella Naughty, Marc Elrich

By Lori Jaffe

Marc Elrich doesn’t want us to have the freedom to raise our kids according to our values. We need to take back control over our kids’ future. You can help the Committee for Better Government limit him to two terms, but you must act soon. Ten thousand valid signatures must be gathered by August 2024. (See below).

Our County Executive wants schools to start teaching children during their first five years. He is fully aware of the effect of teaching children at an early age, while they are still vulnerable. “We know the first five years of life are critical to brain development for children. And this sets the foundation for all future learning.” But what will they be taught?

In his “Weekly Update Message on April 12, 2024” (0:26) Elrich extended his gratitude to the Montgomery County House and Senate Delegations for their “dedication in the support of the priorities of the Montgomery County Government and the 1.1 million residents we serve…”

County Executive Elrich has made it clear what his priorities are.

On October 15, 2022, County Executive Elrich attended a Drag Queen Story Hour. According to the Montgomery County Public Libraries website:

Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag queens reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores. Drag Queen Story Hour captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity in childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. Event is for ages preschool through elementary and adults attending must be accompanied by a child.

Drag Queen Story Hour is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County.”

Were your priorities considered?

In 2023, MCPS parents were told that they could not opt-out of books and lessons that include LGBTQ topics. Many MoCo parents protested against losing their parental rights.

Despite these protests, Elrich keeps pushing the Left’s agenda. (1:49) “They also put safeguards to help schools protect books from being banned without proper process and oversight…” He is concerned with protecting books, not protecting children.

Thanks to Ella Ennis, Maryland Federation of Republican Women’s Legislative Chair, for leading a grass-roots charge that pushed the bill amendment to include a process that will allow parents to object to materials in a school library media program.

How have County Executive Elrich’s policies affected our schools over the years? On his website, under “Early + Higher Education,” he says, “We have one of the best public school systems in the country…”

“K-12 Education
We have one of the best public school systems in the country: our schools are an important reason why people want to live here. That is why as County Executive, I have fully funded the budget for the Montgomery Public School System in each of my budgets.  I understand that our excellent school system is an important asset of our county and we cannot waiver in our commitment to maintaining its excellence.”

But if that’s true, then why does USNews list our top three high schools below the top 100 schools in the country?

Our young children are being taught sexually explicit subjects. Shouldn’t schools focus on subjects that will prepare them for good-paying jobs? Isn’t that your priority?

Marc Elrich wants to run for a third 4-year term as County Executive in 2026. Is he a leader that you want to follow? Do you think he has the best policies for your children’s future? Please volunteer to hold him to two terms.
